Joanna CONVERSE

I am a teacher, student and a believer in the healing power of yogA for anyone in whatever form of the practice is most beneficial and accessible to them.

For me, Yoga has been a consistent and Familiar place of healing and growing, the practice has connected me to many wonderful people, places and experiences, for which I am forever grateful.

my hope is that yoga becomes more and more accessible and meets any willing and interested student where they are.

I began practicing yoga about 17 years ago, when my mom asked me to go to a class with her. It was offered at a small studio in the teacher's attic of her home. She taught the vinyasa class to Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and I fell in love with the movement and grace of the practice, the music a perfect backdrop to that first experience. Since that day, I've practiced many different types of yoga, with many different teachers at various studios. I have spent most of my time practicing at Inner Strength Studios in Watertown, connecting deeply to the ideology and style of yoga offered by the owner Roman Szpond, which was a powerful flow that encouraged the integration of the breath, the mind and the physical practice underscored by a mission that believed we have everything we need within us at all times. In 2013 I received my 200 hr. teacher training certification at Inner Strength and taught at the studio for 8 years.

In the last few years that I have been both teaching and practicing yoga regularly, I have come to greatly appreciate Boston as a special place for yoga, a rich community full of skilled teachers, dedicated yogis, and many wonderful studios and opportunities to learn more about ourselves and to impact the world through our practice.

I hope this space will strengthen our yoga community and offer a place to learn, to share, and bring together all the wonderful teachers and students for some meaningful and fun conversations.
